Mina’s Compassion Fund

Mina passed away in June of 2024. A beloved Vizsla, she embodied all the classic traits of her breed—loyalty, sensitivity, and boundless energy. Over the course of her life, she bravely survived five life-threatening illnesses: IMHA, blastomycosis, pancreatitis, diabetes, and pneumonia. Despite these challenges, Mina faced each one with stoic dignity and unshakable spirit.
Though she slowed down after her first illness at age four, she never lost her hunting drive—or her incredible emotional intelligence. Mina had an old soul and an extraordinary gift for comforting others, both human and canine. She truly was a once-in-a-lifetime dog, the kind who could win the heart of even a non-dog person.
To honor Mina’s memory and carry her compassion forward, her family has partnered with Eagle River Animal Hospital to create Mina’s Compassion Fund. The fund helps pet families facing financial hardship by covering part of the cost of emergency or critical care for their pet here at Eagle River Animal Hospital.
The goal of the fund is simple: to prevent the unnecessary euthanasia of treatable dogs due to financial constraints. Each case is carefully reviewed, and support is granted based on the anticipated cost of care and the family’s ability to contribute.

To help support the fund, we sell Eagle River Animal Hospital sweatshirts, with 100% of profits going directly to Mina’s Compassion Fund. Additional donations are always welcome and deeply appreciated.
