Dr. Katie Hom
DVM
Dr. Katie is originally from Duluth, MN and graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. She began practicing small animal medicine in the Brainerd Lakes area in a practice that also operated a wildlife rehabilitation program. Labradors to loons, beagles to badgers; all helped to develop a broad application of medicine across many species.
She continued to practice part-time while raising her three children in Ashland, WI and eventually moved with them to Eagle River in 2009. Five years later, she became owner of the Eagle River Animal Hospital. Her clinical interests include acupuncture and animal behavior to further support health and well-being in her patients.
She lives and fills her spare time on a hobby farm where she can enjoy her two horses and one cat. One day she will find time to return to quilting, reading and gardening, but not yet.
Dr. Mary Camp
DVM
Dr. Mary grew up in St. Germain, WI, with her 6 siblings and parents. She attended Northland Pines, where she met her middle school sweetheart, Dr. Brad Camp, a local dentist. After graduating veterinary school from the University of Wisconsin in 2013, they moved back home to the Northwoods. Dr. Mary has two rambunctious young boys (Nicholas and Colin), two oversized lap dogs (Lambeau and Lilo), two barn cats (Shere Khan and Her-meow-ne), and a small flock of layer chickens.
In her free time, Dr. Mary enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She loves being outdoors, hiking, swimming and camping in the summer, then cross country skiing and sledding in the winter. She has been lucky to join a sand volleyball league during the summers as another way to stay active in the beautiful Northwoods. Most days she explores her own backyard with her family and pets. When she gets a few free minutes to herself, Dr. Mary enjoys reading. She is happy that both of her boys have taken after her love of books, and she is already introducing Nicholas to the world of Harry Potter.
Dr. Mary began her career shadowing and then working for Dr. Dan Paretsky at the Eagle River Animal Hospital before attending college. With a little push from those around her, she ultimately decided to become a veterinarian herself. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is getting to know her clients and hearing the stories they share with their furry family members. She has a special interest in dermatology, basic soft tissue surgery, and ultrasonography. Dr. Mary has recently begun expanding her skills with ultrasound and looks forward to developing in this area of medicine. She enjoys the challenge of difficult cases, learning more with every case so that she can best help her future patients live long and healthy lives. Dr. Mary has been a veterinarian at the Eagle River Animal Hospital since June 2014.
Amber P.
Practice Manager, Certified Veterinary Technician
Amber has worked as a technician for over 10 years and has been at Eagle River Animal Hospital since 2014. She enjoys client education and patient care. She lives in Sugar Camp with her husband Greg, their three children, and Standard Poodles named Rose and Violet. Amber also has a hobby farm with chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys.
Monica O.
Certified Veterinary Technician
Monica has been a member of the Eagle River Animal Hospital team since 2015. She loves the fast-paced environment of working in the hospital and making a positive difference in the lives of animals and their owners.
Outside of work, she enjoys going on hikes with her dog, camping, and spending time on the water. Monica has a daughter named Lennon and two dogs (Malakai and Molly)
Rachel B.
Certified Veterinary Technician
Rachel, a 2007 MATC graduate, has moved back to her roots, the beautiful Northwoods, and joined the Eagle River Animal Hospital team in 2021. She loves seeing the human-animal bond every day at the clinic, which follows through in patient care. She lives with her better half and their son. Plus, of course, their Great Dane and ever-growing poultry farm, In her free time, she loves spending time gardening, kayaking, fishing, and snowshoeing with her family.
Ginger S
Certified Veterinary Technician
Ginger joined Eagle River Animal Hospital in spring of 2023. The veterinary world has appealed to Ginger since she was young. She started working in a vet clinic by the time she was 16 years old. Ginger has been a certified veterinary technician for many years and specializes and loves surgery and anesthetics. She loves being a member of a positive team and a fast-paced working environment with the goal of making a difference in patients and clients lives. Ginger lives with her husband, has four children and four spoiled French bulldogs. Ginger and her family spend their free time farming their small homestead, fishing and attending hockey games.
Heidi D.
Veterinary Assistant
Heidi has worked in the vet field for over 10 years. She was born and raised in Waukesha County and in 2019 made the move with her husband and daughter to Three Lakes WI. She shares her home with her husband, daughter, their four dogs, and two cats. Denali a senior husky, Kenzie, a senior Morkie, Charlie, a domestic long hair cat, Houdini, a domestic short hair tiger cat, Beau, a German shepherd dog, and Indy, a young German shepherd dog/Husky mix. In her free time, she enjoys watching wildlife, hiking with her boy Beau or spending time out on the water fishing, or just enjoying family time. What Heidi enjoys most about working in the vet field is getting to look into the eyes of all the animals and earning their trust. Animals are the best gift and she is happy to be able to help them.
Heide S.
Dog Trainer
Heide, started at Eagle River Animal Hospital in 2019 working as a Veterinary Assistant. She lives in Eagle River with her husband, Jason, and three kids, Christopher, Addy, and Ava Jo. She shares her home with three pups, Venus, Zeus and Scout. In her spare time, she loves to conquer fitness goals and she has completed an ultramarathon. While working at Eagle River Animal Hospital, she has learned many things. Animal behavior was something I wanted to learn more about. In 2020 she started her training to become our dog trainer. Amanda D.
Veterinary Assistant
Amanda made the move to the Northwoods and joined our team in 2019 where her love for animals has continued to grow. She loves being able to make a difference in the lives of animals and watch them live their best life. Amanda is currently looking to further her knowledge in veterinary medicine and begin to work towards the title of a CVT. Outside of work, she loves spending time exploring the beauties of nature with her friends, family, and of course her four-legged friend Susie.
Sarah Z.
Veterinary Assistant
Sarah originally joined Eagle River Animal Hospital in 2001. After leaving in 2009 to attend college she returned in 2014 as a receptionist, and as of 2021 is a veterinary assistant and is in school to become a CVT. Sarah lives in Eagle River with her dog Rory, two cats Boober and Raven, and several ball pythons. She’s hoping to add more exotic pets to her family in the future. In her free time, Sarah enjoys reading, writing, rockhounding, and making jewelry.
Melissa N.
Veterinary Assistant
Melissa is a Veterinarian Assistant that has worked with animals all of her life. Melissa lives on a farm with her horses and other small farm animals. She loves to ride her horses Oliver and Levi at local rodeos and speed shows as well as trail riding with family and friends. She plans on becoming an equine dentist and a farrier after she graduates from high school and Veterinarian Assistant school in the spring. She joined Eagle River Animal Hospital in September of 2022.
Destiny
Veterinary Assistant
Destiny started at Eagle River Animal Hospital early 2023 as a Veterinary
assistant as she works towards becoming a CVT. She grew up in the beautiful
northwoods and with the support of her husband joined this amazing field,
which has been her passion since early childhood. Destiny has 2 daughters
and one dog and is looking forward to growing her knowledge at our clinic.
Patty
Lead Receptionist
Patty joined the Eagle River Animal Hospital as Lead Receptionist in the summer of 2024. With a background in the retail and marketing industry, she brings a wealth of experience to her role.
She is dedicated to ensuring every client has an excellent experience, a commitment that shines through in her work.
Outside of the clinic, Patty and her husband, Scott, have three children—Morgan, Tommy, and Jack. They also enjoy raising layer hens and beekeeping as part of their family life.
Cody B.
Receptionist
Cody was born in the city of the green and gold. Although she grew up more in the Northwoods than in Green Bay. After graduating from college, she studied in Germany and did some traveling to several other countries during that time. After traveling she had a calling for caregiving. Cody has been a dietary aide, personal care worker, in-home care giver, and coordinating other staff and care giving. She needed a change in career, which then brought her to Eagle River Animal Hospital in August of 2022. Cody and her Fiancé have a blended family of two boys and three girls. In her free time, she enjoys camping, fishing, duck hunting, her hobby farm, family time, cooking, baking, and paying it forward. She cannot wait to learn and grow at Eagle River Animal Hospital.
Margaret V.
Receptionist
Margaret recently relocated to the northwoods from a small farming community in southeast Wisconsin. She pursued a career in several areas of ornamental horticulture, including floral design and flower shop and greenhouse management. She also managed her husband’s arborist business for many years.
Margaret and her husband raised their four children on a hobby farm surrounded by poultry, rabbits, dogs, cats, and the occasional hooved animal. Though her children are grown now, Margaret spends her time spoiling her other kids: three Bernese Mountain Dogs, several cats, and a small flock of layer hens. She also enjoys birdwatching, canoeing, gardening, and canning.
Pets have always been a huge part of Margaret’s family life, so when she decided to try something new, she made the change from plants to animals and is excited to be a member of the Eagle River Animal Hospital team.
They have a very kind staff always welcome the animals and show much love to them and the service is always the best😇😇Amazing animal hospital !!!
